Bees, our most valuable ally...

Bees, in the wrong place, at the wrong time!

Of all the insect species, the honeybee is perhaps the most beneficial. More than one half of all fruit and vegetable crops are pollinated by honeybees. Wasps contribute by preying on many pest insects harmful to crops. Without bees and wasps, our menu would be very limited. Unfortunately, bees and wasps can be a threat to human health. Each year, 50 to 100 people die from bee and wasp stings. Africanized bees (Killer bees) are more defensive than a normal honeybees and to the casual observer they look the same. They react to disturbances around the hive. They can stay irritated for days after being disturbed. An extremely aggressive Africanized bee colony may attack any 'threat' within 100 ft. and pursue for up to one-fourth a mile.

Bees move into cracks in the hollow of a pillar in Rancho Bernardo, CA
Common nesting sites include eaves, window trims, fascia boards, siding, wooden shakes, decks and outdoor furniture.

Bees and Wasps take residence in vents, attics, crawl spaces, hollow walls or any other dark space in our homes. Destroying nests in these locations can be very difficult. Bee nests contain honey that must be removed after the bees are eliminated due to the fact it will rot and attract secondary pests.

Pest control in San Diego, San Bernardino, Temecula / Murietta and the region for bee infestations is not hard to find, but a true solution provider, one that will solve the problem, rather than potentially making the situation worse, is invaluable!

Hearts Pest Management has a complete pest control solution:

Bees enter a structure via a crack under an eave in Carmel Mountain, CA
Our bee exterminators after removing the nest we will protect against future utilization
of the old nesting tunnels and greatly reduce the chances of wood decay.
  • Bee eradication by professional bee exterminators.
  • Careful area prep-work to keep your home or business clean.
  • Honeycomb removal and deodorizer to drastically reduce the pheromone and attractiveness of the area to bees and other pests, such as ants and rats. If left in your walls, the honeycomb will generate intense odors and may cause damage to walls and ceiling.
  • Bee exclusion to eliminate wall, eave, roof access points.
  • Minor repairs. We offer access to handy men who have worked closely with Hearts and that are comfortable and successful working in bee treatment programs. There are times when we feel the best advice is to seek outside assistance, such as to repair a roof that has been opened up to remove bees.

Bees and a large bee hive is found contained in an eave soffit, in Poway, CA
If left in your walls, the honeycomb will generate intense odors and may cause damage to walls and ceiling.

Hearts pest control service is fully certified for Killer Bee control and honeycomb removal.

The prior bee exterminator, who killed the bees in the wall of this home, either neglected to follow the standard recommendations of the Pest Control Operators of California to remove the honeycomb, or the homeowner ignored sound advice.

Bee Damage
Here mold is growing on honey leaking through wall after bee removal. Bee Removal is the first step. Clean up is the second.

In this example, a large beehive had been present above a second floor window of a home in Oceanside, CA. Once the bees were eradicated, the temperature of the honeycomb could not be maintained. The honey comb melted and honey oozed down the wall, creating a odorous mold extending to the base of the building. Don't let this happen to you!

Bees are attracted to irrigation boxes in rural San Diego County
Bees not only setup nests on your house but on your landscape as well.

Bees are not limited to above ground hives. Shown left is a water shut off control box. Below is a hive under the floor of a shed.

Bee Hive
Here a bee coloney nested under the shed floor.

Like any pest problem, the longer you wait to solve a bee problem, the bigger it gets. To help prevent extensive pest damage, take periodic strolls around your roperty, observing sub-areas, leaves, and roof lines.

Pay particular attention to areas infrequently utilized and away from heavy human traffic, such as a shed at the far corner of your property, like this one in Encinitas, CA.
